So the name changed from gpt index to

At a glance

The post discusses the name change from "gpt-index" to "llama-index", and the community members note that the documentation's examples still require an OpenAI API key, even though the name change suggests a focus on Llama/Llama2 rather than ChatGPT. Some community members suggest that the name change may have been confusing, while others defend the decision, stating that "LLM --- Llama is pretty easy name to arrive at" and that they needed to remove references to GPT. The community members also discuss the possibility of changing the subdomain from "gpt-index.readthedocs.io" to "llama-index.readthedocs.io", but note that this may impact SEO and search results.

Should only need an OpenAI API Key if you use OPENAI LLM
Forgive me for assuming the name change meant more focus on Llama/Llama2 than on ChatGPT.
haha all good!
Yea, we came up with the name a week before llama dropped πŸ˜†
Maybe the confusing name change wasn't worth it?
Most people get it, we are committed now πŸ˜‰ LLM --- Llama is pretty easy name to arrive at. Plus we needed to remove references to GPT πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
What about changing this subdomain? https://gpt-index.readthedocs.io/
Ah, I see it works for Chinese but not English.
(llama-index.readthedocs.io, that is)
oh interesting πŸ€” Yea we've been meaning to change the domain, but also don't want to tank SEO or google search results lol
