In stepwise execution, once a tool call has finished, can I modify the tool response externally before the next step, ensuring that the modified response goes into the next step?

Currently, I can do it through manually updating the chat buffer, but looking for a more elegant solution if it already exists.

It sounds like you are doing a lot of custom stuff -- maybe you'd be more interested in using a more from-scratch agent built with worklfows?
