Hey guys I have a quick question about

At a glance

The community member has a question about the licensing terms of Llama2. They want to know if they can use Llama2 at work, create a finetuned version, and sell it commercially without having to pay anything to Facebook. The documentation is unclear on the licensing, unlike Mistral which has an Apache2 license.

In the comments, another community member mentions that based on a quick Google search, Llama2 is available for commercial use, but there is an exception where if the user count is over 700M per month at the time of launch, permission must be sought from Meta. Another community member suggests checking the fine print on the Meta.ai website.

Hey guys I have a quick question about the licensing terms of Llama2. Can I use Llama2 at work and create let's say a finetuned version of it for my product and sell my commercial product without having to pay anything to Facebook. Its not clear from the Llama2 documentation if it has Apache2 or MIT type license. Apparently, there is some fine print somewhere. Unlike Llama2, Mistral has Apache2 licensing. Any help, or guidance in this regard will be much appreciated.

I haven't read too much of the fine print (nor have I found it anywhere), but a quick google search reveals that it is available for commercial use. Though apparently there is an exception where if you have a user count of over 700M per month at time of launch then you need permission from Meta. from meta.ai website .... you can probably find the fine print here. Please do so, as I have not read it and thus am not myself a reliable source for this. https://ai.meta.com/llama/
