I think a lot of it comes down to the type of text in the documents and the types of questions you are asking.

I would say both perform pretty similarly

I see. In my specific context, I am querying meeting notes with timestamps, name of speakers, and message in the structured json. I imagine the querying of "When did this person say "x"" would work better than in a generic PDF?
