A community member expressed surprise that llama-index has langchain as a dependency, as they thought llama-index was supposed to be a less-bloated alternative to langchain. Another community member acknowledged this has been the case for a while. However, a third community member commented that they are close to removing the langchain dependency from llama-index.
All this time, I thought llama-index was supposed to be a less-bloated alternative to langchain, but, after doing pip install llama-index, I see that langchain is a dependency of llama-index?!? Ugh.
